St. John’s has an active Board of Social Ministry, consisting of 3 elected Voting Members serving 3-year terms, and additional appointed members.
The Board of Social Ministry oversees St. John’s Food Pantry which is open from 03:00 PM – 4:00 PM on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. The food pantry is supported by donations from members of St. Johns and two other area Lutheran Churches.
The Board of Social Ministry supports transient aid by providing gas cards, motel stays, Silk Purse gift cards, Save-a-Lot gift cards, and food to the Church Office for distribution to transients in need, in accord with the criteria established by the Board.
The Board of Social Ministry oversees the St. John’s Golden Eagles, which is a group of seniors that meet monthly for lunch on Thursdays at noon followed by cards, games, & activities. Lunch is provided by the Board of Social Ministry for a donation.
The Board of Social Ministry coordinates Seminary food drives, and fundraisers for members of St. John’s in need.
The Board of Social Ministry is responsible for planning the annual Church Picnic and various other Church social gatherings.
The Board of Social Ministry serves coffee and breakfast items in the Fellowship Hall between the 8:00 AM Sunday Church service and Sunday School each week.
